Set in the inner-city of Memphis, the Oscar nominated documentary follows the Manassas Tigers’ 2009 football season as they strive to win the first playoff game in the school’s 110-year history. Previously Manassas had gone so far as to sell their home games to the highest bidder, but that all changed when Bill Courtney volunteered to lend a hand.
February 5, 2012On March 1, 2010, Iranian filmmaker Jafar Panahi was arrested on charges of “propaganda against the Islamic Republic” (speaking out on behalf of those protesting the re-election of Ahmadinejad), and was sentenced to six years behind bars, banned from making films for 20 years. While the prison sentence was suspended, officials have still forbade him from directing movies, writing screenplays, giving interviews or leaving the country.
