Everyone knows that what you post on Twitter is read by other people, right?

Bradley Patterson, a football player for the University of North Alabama, has issued an apology after getting kicked off the team for an unabashedly racist and altogether idiotic tweet.

On Sunday night, President Obama's address to Newtown, Connecticut, in the wake of the Sandy Hook Massacre interrupted the football game between the New England Patriots and the San Francisco 49ers. Naturally, Patterson tweeted:

UNA athletic director Mark Linder caught wind of the tweet and quickly responded:

Now, as reported by Hypervocal, Patterson is apologizing to his team, to the school and to Obama, eloquently saying, "I really ain't like that. I ain't racist." He continues, "I wasn't thinking last night when I put it on there, but I'm sorry to all the guys," and "If I could go back right now, I would change it. I wouldn't hesitate to do so."

His Twitter account has since been deleted. Wise decision, Patterson.
