3. She Was Walking to a Nearby Friends House
Owens was walking to a nearby friend's house when the Gold pickup truck pulled up to the side of the road and the driver grabbed Owens. According to witnesses, the truck circled the block and drove passed Owens a number of times before the abduction took place on the tree-lined and residential west Lombard Street in Springfield, Missouri.

Reports from witnesses and a tip to police led authorities to 45-year-old Craig Michael Wood by late Tuesday night. Wood is a paraprofessional and coach at Pleasant View School, an elementary and middle school. According to the AP, Wood has been working in the school distract since 1998.
He did not work at Westport Elementary School where Owens was a student.
Wood was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and taken to prison. A search of Wood's house uncovered a body that is believed to be Owens.
Authorities say Wood is not talking and the motive is still unclear.
5. Witnesses Tried to Stop the Abduction
At the second press conference on Wednesday, police told reporters that multiple witnesses attempted to prevent the abduction by running after the car on foot, calling 911, or even chasing the pickup truck in their own vehicle.
