Washington, Illinois Tornado: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know

Giant weather systems above the Midwest caused destructive tornadoes and thunderstorms across the area today, but few places were as badly damaged as the small town of Washington, Illinois. Washington has a population of around 15,000 and there is no news yet of how many of these people have been misplaced by the storm. Listen above to hear an eye witness account someone in Washington.

It could be days before we know the extent of the damage that occurred in Washington, but for now the photos emerging from the area look unbelievable. There is still no official word yet on injuries in Washington, but currently in Pekin there are reports of no serious injuries.

Although 20 of the 21 reported tornadoes that touched down today have been in Illinois, there is now news of a tornado forming near the town of Kokomo, Indiana.
