A small plane nose-dove above the quiet community of Baker, Louisiana, this afternoon, crashing into a residential neighborhood and setting two houses on fire.

Witnesses on the scene said the plane itself is engulfed in flames, too, telling NBC 33 that the inferno can be seen from a far distance. Jet fuel has likely been scattered around the area, so officials have asked people to clear out.

Baton Rogue Metro Airport spokesman Jim Caldwell confirmed that the aircraft was not a commercial plane (per CBS local), but specifics regarding its exact size and the number of passengers are unclear.

The airport's chief of police, Anthony Williams, confirmed that there were no injuries or fatalities of anybody on the ground. The fate of the pilot (as well as any potential passengers), however, remains to be seen.
