Sandra Lupo, a Hooters waitress in St. Louis, is suing her former employers claiming she was fired because for having a shaved head that revealed a scar from her recent brain surgery, reports St. Louis Today.
Lupo rejected the firm's insistence on wearing a wig when she was supposed to return to work last summer, as it would affect the healing process. She had taken one month off to heal from the surgery, which removed a noncancerous mass in her skull.
Lupo says she worked at Hooters to pay her way through nursing school.
Hooters have denied Lupo's claims, they say that she was always told that, in order to return to work, she would have to wear a wig. To which Lupe refutes, that her restaurant manager, Brent Holmberg, said she could start back working wearing a "chemo cap", but he was overruled by regional boss Joe Ozment, who insisted upon the wig.
