Donald Trump’s spokespeople are denying reports that his eldest children asked him to turn down his bashing of President Barack Obama during the election.
According to the New York Daily News, Trump’s constant tirades over the president led his oldest three children, Eric, Donald Jr. and Ivanka, at first talked about telling their father to calm down, and then decided to go together to confront their dad and talk to him, an unnamed source told the paper:
The three of them met and went to see their dad in his Fifth Ave. office. They showed a lot of respect, but told him he’s worked too long and too hard to build up the reputation he has. They understand completely he’s always been outspoken and that he likes attention, but this is too much.
Trump’s representative denies the meeting, which supposedly was held in October in the weeks before the election, ever happened.
And if it did, it didn’t do much good. On election night, Trump blasted Obama’s re-election as “a disgusting injustice” and he called for a “revolution” on Twitter.
The Twitter rants are gone because Trump deletes many of his more explosive tweets, and these ones are no exception. But they didn’t surprise many people, considering Trump has demanded Obama’s birth certificate, college records and passport applications. He even offered Obama a $5 million donation for the charity of his choice in exchange for the college records, but the president ignored him.
The insider told said Trump’s grown children told him he should back down so the family will be once again respected. But Trump’s rep said the three love Trumps’s use of “free speech” and would never try to rein him in.
