Injured Makdessi out of bout with Taylor
John Makdessi withdraws from his “UFC on Versus 5” bout against Paul Taylor.
MMAjunkie.com reported earlier today that an injury forced the undefeated lightweight out of the contest.
In two UFC contests, Makdessi has won in convincing fashion, defeating Pat Audinwood via unanimous decision in his debut and Kyle Watson by vicious spinning back fist in his second outing. Taylor, meanwhile, had an impressive last performance of his own, putting Gabe Ruediger‘s lights out at UFC 126.
With just under two months remaining until the event, the search is on for a replacement. If a replacement can be secured in time, the bout will land on the evening’s preliminary card.
“UFC on Versus 5” is set for August 14 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. A welterweight bout between Dan Hardy and Chris Lytle will serve as the evening’s main event.
