Aldo vs. Edgar announced for Superbowl Weekend
UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo and former UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar will meet in the main event of UFC 156 next February.
The event, which will serve as the UFC’s annual Super Bowl Weekend event, takes place on February 2 in Las Vegas.
UFC officials announced the news on Tuesday night on FUEL TV’s “UFC Tonight.”
Edgar and Aldo were originally expected to meet in the main event of UFC 153, but an injury to the champion forced that fight to be canceled.
UFC 156 will mark Edgar’s debut as a UFC featherweight, and he couldn’t have asked for a bigger fight. Meanwhile, Aldo meets arguably his biggest test to date.
