Daniel Roberts vs. Julio Paulino Added To UFC 116

UFC 116 is rounding out slowly but surely with the addition of a welterweight contest between Julio Paulino and Daniel Roberts, the latter of which announced the fight via his Twitter account this past Friday.

“I FIGHT JULIO PAULINO JULY 3rd IN VEGAS,” read the message posted by Daniel Roberts, clearly excited to announce the news to his followers and fans.

Roberts is coming off a disappointing loss to John Howard at “UFC on Versus 1”, where he was knocked out cold in the very first round of his UFC debut. The loss was only the first of his 10-fight career, leaving him with a 9-1 record.

Like his future opponent, Paulino also dropped his debut with the UFC, losing to Mike Pierce at “UFC on Versus 1” via unanimous decision. At 17-3, Paulino holds an edge in experience over Roberts, but he is also looking for his first victory inside the promotion.

UFC 116 is set for Las Vegas, Nevada’s MGM Grand Garden Arena and will be headlined in all likelihood by a heavyweight championship bout between the defending champion Brock Lesnar and the interim champion Shane Carwin. The card is also set to feature the long overdue match up of Wanderlei Silva and Yoshihiro Akiyama. However, no fights have been officially finalized by the promotion for the July 3 event.
