1. Blood Money Was Shot

According to many sources, Rapper Blood Money was shot multiple times and died at the hospital. ABC News reports:

A South Side rapper who had collaborated with his cousin Chief Keef was shot and killed Wednesday night in West Englewood.

Every Joe reports that there were many rumors about the rapper’s cause of death circulating. One rumor was that he was murdered, while the other claims the cause of death was a drug overdose. Unfortunately, it was a gunshot to the chest that was the cause of death.

Police said Mario Hess, 30, was shot and killed about 9:30 p.m. in the 5600 block of South Elizabeth Street. He was found lying on a sidewalk with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, where he died at 10:29 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

Hess was shot as much as 10 times.


2. He Was Just Signed to a Record Label

Blood Money is the cousin to rapper Chief Keef and member of the Glo Gang. He had just gotten signed by Interscope Records about two weeks ago, according to what his manager and cousin, Renaldo Reuben Hess, said to ABC News. Hess told the press that:

This was his dream and he finally got his foot in the door. But that’s how it goes in Chicago. He really wanted to get off the streets.


3. Another Man Was Injured in the Shooting

Police stated that a 33-year-old man who was also injured in the same shooting was taken to Stroger Hospital and was said to be in serious condition with a gunshot to the abdomen. The Chicago Tribune wrote that:

Police said two shooters opened fire just south of 56th Street on Elizabeth Avenue around 9:45 p.m. Wednesday, leaving more than two-dozen shell casings in the street.

The news source further described the crime scene saying:

Police had a hard time keeping track of the shell casings at the scene. Ripped up index cards served as evidence markers until police were able to get plastic ones to the scene. But when the plastic markers were set next to the casings, they scraped across the pavement in the wind … Hess was found south of a newer model dark red Cadillac Escalade. Four vacant lots bordered the crime scene.


4. He’s Been Pictured a Lot With Guns

In videos as well as photos with the Glo Gang, Blood Money has been seen with guns. Right before his death, Bloody Money went by the name Big Glo and was actually the oldest member of the Glory Boyz Entertainment crew. Blood Money apparently had a long arrest record, appearing in Cook County courts for at least 36 separate cases for drugs, battery, and weapon-related crimes, as reported in records.
