Will Ferrell’s Weird ‘Spoils of Babylon’ IFC Miniseries Stars Kristen Wiig & Tobey Maguire

The trailer for Will Ferrell’s new IFC miniseries The Spoils of Babylon has just been released, and it looks hilariously weird.

The miniseries premieres Thursday, January 9, at 10 p.m. on IFC and centers on a family in Texas that discovers oil and makes it rich.

As their empire expands, the family patriarch, played by Tim Robbins, his daughter (Kristen Wiig), and his son (Tobey Maguire) deal with rival businesses, drug lords, government and gangs. There are also hints of incest between Wiig and Maguire’s characters.

The title also says “Eric Jonrosh’s The Spoils of Babylon.” Jonrosh is played by Will Ferrell, who is the bestselling author of the book on which the miniseries is based. Every episode begins and ends with a selection of readings by Jonrosh. Neither Jonrosh nor the book is real.

Funny or Die is producing, and the rest of the cast is all-star, including Carey Mulligan, Jessica Alba, Michael Sheen, Haley Joel Osment and Val Kilmer.
