Latest Lakers News
Trey Jemison : Struggles in second NBA season
Jemison averaged 2.5 points and 2.8 rebounds in 10.3 minutes over 38 games during the 2024-25 regular season. Jemison was let go by the Pelicans in January but quickly found a new home in LA, where he spent the remainder of the regular season as one of the squad's two-way players. He averaged 2.6 points and 2.8 rebounds in 22 games after signing on with the Lakers and struggled to find a consistent role in the NBA rotation.
Alex Len : Logs career-low 1.6 PPG in 2024-25
Len finished the 2024-25 campaign with averages of 1.6 points, 2.1 rebounds, 0.8 assists and 0.5 blocks across 8.3 minutes per game over 46 regular-season appearances (seven starts) between the Lakers and the Kings. Len played only four minutes in two appearances during the Lakers' 4-1 first-round series loss to Minnesota, racking up four rebounds. The 31-year-old big man began the season with Sacramento but was traded to the Wizards and subsequently waived in February. However, he signed a one-year pact with the Lakers in the same month, and he averaged 2.2 points, 3.1 rebounds and 0.8 assists across 12.2 minutes per game in 10 appearances (four starts). Len is set to become an unrestricted free agent ahead of the 2025-26 season and could be an option for teams seeking frontcourt depth.
Markieff Morris : Limited impact in 2024-25 campaign
Morris finished the 2024-25 campaign with averages of 3.7 points, 1.5 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 0.6 three-pointers across 11.0 minutes per game in 15 regular-season appearances (two starts) between the Lakers and the Mavericks. Morris didn't suit up during the Lakers' 4-1 first-round series loss to Minnesota. The veteran big man started the season in Dallas but was included in the trade that sent Luka Doncic to Los Angeles on Feb. 1. Morris played in eight games (two starts) for the Lakers, during which he averaged 5.5 points, 2.1 assists, 1.9 rebounds and 0.9 three-pointers across 15.5 minutes per contest. The 35-year-old is set to enter unrestricted free agency and could provide a veteran presence, though he isn't expected to carve out a significant role at this stage of his career.
Jaxson Hayes : Shows improvement in sixth season
Hayes averaged 6.8 points, 4.8 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 0.9 blocks in 19.5 minutes over 56 games during the 2024-25 regular season. Hayes showed obvious improvement in his second year as a Laker, averaging his best scoring total since the 2021 season while setting career highs in both rebounds and assists. However, he struggled to find his footing during LA's first-round postseason series against the Timberwolves, averaging 1.8 points and 2.0 rebounds in four games before being a healthy scratch for Game 5.
Dalton Knecht : Season ends following Game 5 loss
Knecht averaged 9.1 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.6 made threes in 19.2 minutes over 78 appearances during the 2024-25 regular season. Knecht experienced a turbulent rookie campaign, which saw him traded from the Lakers to the Hornets in February, only for the deal to later fall through. He averaged 8.1 points on 45.5 percent shooting from the field and 40.3 percent from downtown in 32 regular-season games after the failed trade, with his production really falling off starting in mid-March. Knecht saw the court for four total minutes during the Lakers' first-round series loss to the T-Wolves, finishing the year firmly rooted in a bench role.
Bronny James : Limited run in 2024-25 campaign
James finished the 2024-25 campaign with averages of 2.3 points, 0.8 assists, 0.7 rebounds, 0.3 three-pointers and 0.3 steals across 6.7 minutes per game in 27 regular-season appearances (one start). James recorded no counting stats in four total minutes over two games during the Lakers' first-round series loss to the Timberwolves. The rookie second-round pick didn't make much of an impact for the Lakers this season, though he spent a significant amount of time with the club's G League affiliate, the South Bay Lakers. The 20-year-old performed fairly well in 18 appearances with South Bay, averaging 18.6 points, 4.6 assists, 4.4 rebounds and 1.7 steals while shooting 41.9 percent from the field and 33.6 percent from downtown across 31.4 minutes per game. James isn't expected to carve out a significant role with Los Angeles in the 2025-26 campaign, but he could continue to receive playing time in the G League as he develops.
Shake Milton : Muted finish to 2024-25 season
Milton averaged 5.5 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 14.7 minutes over 57 games during the 2024-25 regular season. Milton logged only four total minutes during LA's first-round Western Conference playoff series against Minnesota, and he struggled to carve out a role after joining the team at the end of the calendar year. He averaged 3.6 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 32 games after being traded from the Nets, reaching double figures in the scoring column four times. Milton has suited up for five different teams over his last two seasons, so some stability would presumably benefit his overall development.
Jordan Goodwin : Season ends Wednesday
Goodwin finished the 2024-25 campaign with averages of 5.6 points, 3.9 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 1.0 steals, 0.9 three-pointers and 0.4 blocks across 18.7 minutes per game in 29 regular-season appearances (five starts). Goodwin didn't play in Game 5 of the club's 4-1 first-round series loss to Minnesota. During the series, he averaged 0.8 points and 1.3 rebounds across 8.0 minutes per game in four outings. The 26-year-old guard signed a one-year, two-way pact with the Lakers in February after starting the season with the G League's South Bay Lakers. However, the club converted it to a standard deal in March, which includes a team option for the 2025-26 campaign. Even if the Lakers choose not to exercise that option, Goodwin put together a solid audition for teams seeking additional backcourt depth. He shot a career-high 38.2 percent from downtown, recording 43.8/38.2/81.8 shooting splits.
