Bantamweights booked for July 11 card, likely in San Jose

A pair of bantamweights coming off impressive performances in their last outings will meet this summer at UFC on Fuel TV 4.

T.J. Dillashaw and Vaughan Lee have been booked to fight at the event on July 11. UFC officials confirmed the fight pairing late Friday. Though UFC on Fuel TV 4 does not yet have an announced home, published reports indicate the card will take place at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif. It will be the fourth live UFC card on the Fuel TV cable network.

Dillashaw (5-1, 1-1 UFC) dominated Walel Watson at UFC on Fuel TV: Sanchez vs. Ellenberger in February, nearly finishing the fight several times with submissions. He picked up a pair of 10-8 rounds from two judges and one from the third to win with scores of 30-25, 30-25, 30-26 for his first UFC victory. Dillashaw was a bantamweight contestant on Season 14 of “The Ultimate Fighter” and reached the finals, but he dropped a TKO to winner John Dodson just short of two minutes into the fight. The Californian trains with Urijah Faber and Team Alpha Male in Sacramento.

Lee (12-7-1, 1-1 UFC) picked up his first UFC win in February, as well, when he submitted Norifumi “Kid” Yamamoto at UFC 144 in Yamamoto’s native Japan. Yamamoto was a 5-to-1 favorite in the fight, but Lee locked up an armbar late in the first round that forced “Kid” to tap. The British fighter made his UFC debut in November in his native England at UFC 138, but he dropped a split decision to Chris Cariaso.

UFC on Fuel TV 4 is expected to feature a main event middleweight bout between contenders Mark Munoz and Chris Weidman.
