This morning Mark Zuckerberg made the announcement that Facebook has reached the 1-billion-user mark.

The billionaire founder of the world’s largest social network celebrated in his Facebook status and claimed to be “humbled”:

The reactions are all across the board when it comes to Facebook. Reports from ABC News compare Mark Zuckerberg to Hewlett Packard CEO, Meg Whitman. They condemn Meg Whitman for her negative remarks highlighting the failures of Hewlett Packard. While Zuckerberg celebrates his company’s billionth user mark and the positive connections that Facebook has enabled us to reach, Meg Whitman remains pessimistic when referring to Hewlett Packard. In comparison to Zuckerberg, Meg Whitman is no cheerleader for the company. Whitman’s grim outlook sent Hewlett Packard into a major decline.

Facebook says its one billion users are responsible for 1.13 trillion likes, 219 billion photos and 17 billion check-in’s thanks to Zuckerberg. This is unlike Meg Whitman, who’s negative commentary resulted in……HP’s market value dropping more than $4.3 billion with the share price plunging 13 percent after her remarks in San Francisco analysts and investors.

Facebook is the world’s largest social media enterprise at social networking and reaching its billionth user mark has led the company into their first ad campaign according to Mashable. Although this ad doesn’t mention the billion dollar mark, viewers are able to grasp Zuckerberg’s heart felt message from his blog.
