Nwosu (pectoral) indicated Wednesday that he "absolutely" expects to be ready for the start of training camp, Gregg Bell of The Tacoma News Tribune reports. Nwosu is coming off a season-ending torn pectoral that he suffered this past October, but the edge rusher appears to be progressing well -- barring any setbacks, the 27-year-old is poised to reclaim his key role in the Seahawks defense this coming season. Prior to his injury, Nwosu -- who racked up a career high 9.5 sacks in 2022 -- recorded 16 tackles and 2.0 sacks in six regular-season games last year.
The Seahawks re-signed Onujiogu (elbow) to an exclusive rights contract Monday, John Boyle of the team's official site reports. Onujiogu missed the entire 2023 campaign due to a tendon issue in his elbow. He suited up for one game as an undrafted rookie in 2022. Now presumably back to full health, Onujiogu gets a chance to further his development with Seattle over the offseason, and to hopefully compete for a depth roster spot.
Russell re-signed with the Seahawks on Monday, John Boyle of the team's official site reports. Russell was an exclusive rights free agent, so it's no surprise to see him back in Seattle for the 2024 campaign. He suited up for 15 regular-season games as an undrafted rookie last year, playing 308 snaps on special teams and 17 offensive snaps (zero targets).
Jackson signed his contract with the Seahawks as a restricted free agent Monday, John Boyle of the team's official site reports. Jackson started all 17 regular-season games for Seattle in 2022, though he logged just four starts in 2023 (while recording 34 tackles) despite the same amount of appearances. The 2019 fifth-rounder figures to reprise a key defensive role at cornerback with the Seahawks during the 2024 campaign.
The Seahawks are in line to sign Shenault, Brady Henderson of ESPN.com reports. Before landing on IR this past November due to an ankle injury, Shenault recorded 10 catches for 60 yards and 12 carries for 55 yards, while also returning six kickoffs for 167 yards in eight regular-season games with the Panthers. Now presumably past his injury, the 2020 second-rounder will provide wideout depth for the Seahawks behind DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett and Jaxon Smith-Njigba, though initially Shenault's primary impact figures to come as a returner.
Reed (knee) has made progress in his rehab from a torn ACL but isn't a sure thing for Week 1 of the 2024 season, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports. Reed tore his ACL after suiting up for 10 games last season, tallying 11 total tackles. The 2023 sixth-round pick played almost entirely on special teams as a rookie, and he will fill a similar role when healthy. It sounds like Reed's recovery could linger into the 2024 regular season.
Lucas (knee) is on track for Week 1, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports. Lucas is working his way back from knee surgery that he underwent at the end of the 2023 regular season, so it's encouraging that there's no real concern from the Seahawks about his status for Week 1. The expectation will be for him to start at right tackle when healthy.
