Latest Heat News
Terry Rozier : Won’t suit up Wednesday
Rozier (neck) has been ruled out for Wednesday's Game 2 against the Celtics, Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald reports. Rozier will now miss his eighth straight game, and it is unclear whether the team will look to rush him back for the remainder of the series without Jimmy Butler (knee). The 30-year-old is considered week-to-week and against the Celtics, so it would not come as a surprise for Rozier to miss the entirety of the series. With Rozier out, Delon Wright, Duncan Robinson and Patty Mills are all likely candidates to see an uptick in playing time.
Delon Wright : Shines off bench in Game 1 loss
Wright recorded 17 points (6-7 FG, 5-5 3Pt), one rebound, three assists and two steals across 26 minutes during Sunday's 114-94 loss to the Celtics in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals. Wright led all bench players in scoring in Game 1, connecting on all five of his three-point attempts while chipping in a couple of steals on the defensive end. Keep an eye on the status of Terry Rozier (neck) ahead of Wednesday's Game 2, as his potential return could impact Wright's workload.
Jaime Jaquez : Steps up in starting lineup
Jaquez notched 16 points (8-16 FG, 0-2 3Pt), four rebounds, four assists and one steal in 36 minutes during Sunday's 114-94 loss to Boston in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals. Jaquez once again stepped up for Miami while earning another starting nod in place of the injured Jimmy Butler (knee), handing out a team-high-tying assist total while ending as one of three Heat players with 15 or more points. Jaquez started in 20 games during the regular season, posting 15 or more points in 12 of those starts.
Bam Adebayo : Leading scorer in defeat
Adebayo closed Sunday's 114-94 loss to Boston in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals with 24 points (10-18 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 4-4 FT), six rebounds and three assists in 36 minutes. Adebayo led all players in scoring while pacing the Heat in rebounds to go along with a trio of assists in a losing effort. Adebayo recorded 24 or more points in 14 games during the regular season, entering the playoffs with two straight games with at least 17 points and six boards. We could see Adebayo's workload continue to increase in the opening round series with Jimmy Butler still recovering from a knee injury.
Duncan Robinson : Cleared for Game 1
Robinson (back) is available for Sunday's Game 1 versus Boston, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports. Robinson was unavailable for Miami's Play-In Tournament loss to Philadelphia but returned in a win-or-go-home contest versus Chicago on Friday, dropping eight points in 12 minutes of a blowout victory. He's a candidate to step into a larger workload Sunday, especially with Terry Rozier (neck) and Jimmy Butler (knee) out. However, the extent to which he'll play is unclear after experiencing aggravations with his ongoing facet syndrome in recent weeks.
Duncan Robinson : Questionable for Game 1
Robinson is considered questionable for Sunday's Game 1 matchup with the Celtics due to a back injury, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports. Robinson returned from a four-game absence to Friday's Play-In victory over the Bulls and recorded eight points (3-6 FG, 2-4 3Pt), three rebounds and one assist across 12 minutes. His status for Sunday's season opener in Boston will presumably depend on how his back is feeling closer to tip-off. With Jimmy Butler (knee) and Terry Rozier (neck) sidelined, Robinson could see a healthy workload if his health is up to par.
Terry Rozier : Considered week-to-week
Rozier (neck) is not considered healthy enough to return for Game 1 of the Heat's Round 1 series versus the Celtics at this point and is considered week-to-week, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports. Fortunately, Rozier's neck injury is not considered career threatening. With Jimmy Butler (knee) also sidelined for the immediate future, Tyler Herro figures to be the primary beneficiary of Rozier's absence from an offensive workload perspective. The likes of Delon Wright, Patty Mills, Duncan Robinson, Caleb Martin and Jaime Jaquez also figure to benefit in some fashion. The possibility of a playoff sighting for Rozier will presumably depend on how long the Heat can stay afloat against the daunting Celtics.
Duncan Robinson : Makes return in Play-In game
Robinson (back) recorded eight points (3-6 FG, 2-4 3Pt), three rebounds and one assist across 12 minutes Friday in the Heat's 112-91 win over the Bulls in the Eastern Conference Play-In Tournament. Robinson missed the final four games of the regular season with left facet syndrome, but he was cleared to play in advance of the Heat's first game of the Play-In Tournament on Wednesday. He ultimately went unused in Wednesday's 105-104 loss to the 76ers, but a rotation spot opened up for Robinson on Friday with Jimmy Butler (knee) sidelined with an MCL sprain. Though Butler doesn't appear on track to return during the Heat's first-round playoff series with the Celtics, Robinson could be squeezed out of the rotation if the Heat get Terry Rozier (neck) back for Sunday's Game 1 in Boston.
