Hackerspace: A Digital-Oriented Collaborative Workspace
Despite its name, it is not about hacking into the CIA's mainframe.
A hackerspace is basically a co-op work area that happens to be oriented around digital technology. Moreover, these can involve electronic art as well. Particularly lavish hackerspaces may include machining technology, servers, oscilloscopes, and even raw materials for creating electronic devices. The most notable hackerspace is called c-base.
Usage Examples:
• I joined the hackerspace to make an iPhone app and all I've really done so far is beat everyone at Mario Kart 64.
• One of guys at the hackerspace has emphysema so I call it a hackerspace.
• Did you know that Plants vs. Zombies was not developed at a hackerspace?
