Scarification: Tribes in Papa New Guinea have been doing scarification for centuries. It first started appearing in western culture in San Francisco in the 1980s and is now starting to become more common. Expect a lot of pain, as the process involves branding the skin with hot steel - just like ranchers do with a steer! It's also got a higher rate of infection than tattoos during and after the healing process. You want to be cool though, don't you?
