Meanwhile, the USA as a nation came this close to caring about soccer. Swing and a miss, better luck next time folks, go back to staring at the fourth incarnation of Posh Beckham's boobs.

A <redacted> tennis player did something but shes 17 so we can't say how we'd like to <redacted> <redacted> <redacted> <redacted>.

The Red Sox bullpen took a hit recently. Or more accurately their wallet took a hit since hiring the useless sack of skin that is Dice-K.

Since basketball ended we've been huddling in dirty subway corners compulsively scratching from withdrawal. Luckily, the NBA draft is coming. Its always fun to watch high schoolers receive multi million dollar contracts and think about the fast food joints we were working in right out of high school.

Wimbledon competition is heating up. Whats that? Nadal is out? Never mind. The Iron Sheik steps in to give us a piece of his mind on that topic.

Burly Sports: Citi Field's First Streaker!

The first streaker in the history of baseball at Citi Field has been caught and will soon be charged. The MLB called back their first home run this week as umpires used video replay to reverse two calls in the same day. The near home runs were hit by Adam Laroche and Ross Gload.

Andy Reid's son, Garret, is being sent back to prison for failing a drug test and fighting with an inmate at his halfway house. Unfortunately, Ryan Zimmerman's hit streak comes to an end at 30 games.

The Bruins, Celtics and the Red Sox all won on Saturday. The hockey and basketball playoffs have been amazing! Aaron Brooks's career has been resurrected in basketball after a 34 point massacre against the Lakers on Mother's Day.

Washington 3rd baseman, Ryan Zimmerman, stretched his hitting streak to 28 games this weekend. ESPN is premiering a new documentary entitled, "Halfway to DiMaggio: The Ran Zimmerman Story."

According to News of the World. Baltimore-area exotic dancer, Theresa White, claims she had a threeway with Michael Phelps. Not only that, but she reports that he's falling out of shape, eating at Taco Bell, addicted to online poker and loves chewing tobacco.

Burly Sports: Manny Pacqiao and the NBA Semi-finals

At 140 pounds, Filipino Manny Pacqiao has become the new boxing king after knocking out Ricky Hatton. The Kentucky Derby took place, but no one really seems to have noticed. David Ortiz previously mentioned that the Red Sox need to acquire another power hitter.

The NBA has moved into the conference semi-finals. The Boston Celtics, despite multiple injuries, are coming off of a 7 game series win over the Chicago Bulls. But it looks as though they'll just be warm-up material for the Orlando Magic before their finals against LeBron James and the Cavaliers.

The Miami Dolphins sold the naming rights to their stadium to Land Shark lager, partially owned by Jimmy Buffett.

Burly Sports: A-Rod Rehabilitation and HBO Hard Knocks

It looks like the rehabbing Yankees third baseman, Alex Rodriquez, is head of the schedule and it also looks like the steroid and tabloid friendly slugger may have been juicing as far as high school.

In other news, the 135th Kentucky Derby runs this weekend from Churchill Downs, so it's time to wife pick a horse based on its name and get absolutely trashed on mint juleps.

Alabama have joined with Texas in cancelling their sporting events this weekend due to fear of a swine flu outbreak. Now all kids can come over to Uncle Nick's Derby Party!

Speaking of bad judgment, HBO has announced that the Cincinnati Bengals will star in the 2009 edition of their popular football training camp show, Hard Knocks. This could be the greatest show of all-time!

Burly Sports: New Yankee Stadium

Burly Sports newscaster, Nick Stevens, visits the new Yankee Stadium on its opening day, providing commentary on all the new and lovely features. The beautiful, $1.5 billion stadium is breathtaking... until the Yankee fans showed up! But that's not all! The new stadium offers programs for $15, cans of PBR for $9 and deli-made turkey sandwiches for $12! What else could a baseball fan going through one of the worst economic crisis this country has ever seen ask for? Maybe a little decency.

The Yankees have always celebrated their opening days in good fashion and did so this year with Yogi Berra, Bucky Dent, Goose Gossage and... Jeff Nelson? Nick pays a visit to the concession stands, the in-stadium sports bar and watches on as drunken fans get escorted out of the stadium.

But the game was actually pretty good, what with a pitcher's duel until the 7th inning when Yankee reliever, Damasco Marte, allowed the Indians to score.

And congratulations to @SpumoniNick, @BabyMcQueen and @Eddaru for winning the Burly Sports 7th inning stretch Twittercast contest to come up with the next day's newspaper headline!

Finally, the NHL Season is about to begin - actually they've been playing hockey for six months; it's the playoffs that have started. So the hockey you can give a damn about begins this week.

Well, its official. Your South American uncle <a href="http://www.pgatour.com/players/02/08/48/>Angel Cabrera won The Masters, an exiting and majestic golf tournament. We saw Angel Cabrera, your depressed dad Chad Campbell and your fat cousin Kenny Perry; all play the most boring game of hot potato with the coveted green jacket. In the end one of them had to not lose. Just remember, if you smoke - you can do anything.

In other news, New York City unveils two new baseball crown jewels this week: The new Yankees Stadium and Citi Field. One is a lavish update of a time-honored baseball cathedral and the other one is still in Queens.

Major League Baseball opening week 2009 round up: The Blue Jays are hot, the Red Sox are not, and the Pirates all got shot.

Last years Cy Young winners Cliff Lee and Tim Lincecum expected to be the anchors of their teams rotations, have instead anchored their teams to the bottom of their respected divisions. But just when you think there is no pitcher in baseball you can count on, along comes Carl Pavano, who gives you exactly what you expect from Carl Pavano - nine runs in one inning - that means when he pitched in that one inning that other team scored 9 times.

Burly Sports: Balls Out With Seann William Scott

Burly Sports Show host, Nick Stevens interviews Balls Out actor, Seann William Scott.

After Matt Millen built the NFL's only 0-16 team ever, he's been hired to host the pre and post game coverage on NBC. He's also being considered for Superbowl coverage. This is also a tragedy.

Nick Stevens provides the definition of "Balls out" as exuding tremendous effort or trying extremely hard. However, he recognizes that a sports saying's only real impact is based off its crossover appeal, so he invites Seann William Scott, star of Balls Out: Gary the Tennis Coach, on the set. Seann admits to trying hard to be a jerk and claims that balls out is the only way to live. He tells Nick that he shouldn't live balls in and that he shouldn't think. He should only act. Nick then strikes back with a mean comment about Seann's American Pie movies and Seann realizes the Nick does, in fact, live balls out.

Jeff Jagodzinski was fired from his position as head coach of the Boston College Eagles this week, after he interviewed with the New York Jets about their head coach vacancy after being warned by Boston College that he'd lose his job if he did so. This officially makes him a perfect candidate for head coach of the Jets.

Burly Sports: The Juice Gets Squeezed and NFL Pink Slips

This week Nick Steven discusses OJ Simpsons's sentencing, Francisco Rodriguez's deal with the Mets, and 60 seconds of the latest NFL news.

OJ Simpson was sentenced to 15 years in prison for armed robbery while Francisco "K Rod" Rodriguez leaves the Angels of Anaheim for a 3 year deal with the Mets.

The Cubs may be for sale (just like Senate seats in their state) because the owners of the Tribune filed chapter 11 bankruptcy this week. The filing will impede their ability to afford expensive pitchers like Jake Peevey but they'll still never win a World Series.

It's been said that "last year's NCAA tournament hero is this year's NBA rookie nitwit." This clearly applies to NBA number 1 pick Derrick Rose because he went to the ER this week to close a gash in his arm from cutting an apple in bed. Smart.

BS NFL 60: 60 seconds of pure football frenzy. The NFL Player's Association is appealing the fine and suspension of Plaxico Burress from the New York Giants. The NFL is also said to lay off 150,000 workers this month, which proves the economic crisis has maintained its hold on our country. However, Tony Kornheiser and Tony Siragusa still remain employed.

There have been reports of Tom Brady and Giselle Bundchen scheduling a secret marriage in Costa Rica next March.

Nick presents his open letter to the Yankees in which he asks Brian Cashman to adopt a superhero identity, the Cashman for his crazy expenses such as CC Sabathia's surgery, expensive tickets and an expensive new stadium.

Sabathia wanted to play in California, but the Dodgers and Angels spent money on the entire team to make it better. Goes to show that championships are not built on outspending everyone else in the league.

Finally, Nick checks out the new logo for the Winston-Salem Dash. Apparently, it looks like a wang.

 <media:text type="html">
