Embattled Tory senator Patrick Brazeau caused a stir late Monday night after he tweeted that he'd be stepping down from his position in the Canadian senate.

Hours later, he tweeted "Happy April's Fool's Day!" apparently making light of his earlier tweet.

Brazeau boasted this morning that he had "played the media."

Many were not impressed with Brazeau's remark, given that he has been on forced leave since being charged with both assault and sexual assault back in February for an incident at his home. He is also under investigation for questionable spending.
