2 Prisoners Escape East Texas Jail: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know

Brian Allen Tucker of Sulpher Springs and John Marlin King of Cumby have both escaped from the Hopkins County Jail in East Texas. Here's what you should know about these prison escapees, their jail escape, and what's being done to locate and apprehend them.


1. Both Men Escaped This Morning
Fox News reported that the Hopkins County Sheriff's Office stated that Brian Allen Tucker and John Marlin King both escaped from the Hopkins County Jail at 8 a.m. Tuesday morning, April 2. Deputy Alvin Jordan stated that both men are said to be sporting white T-shirts and boxer shorts. Both men's black-and-white jail uniforms were found discarded on railroad tracks that were found east of the jail.


2. There's Manhunt Under Way
Sheriff deputies have already set up a perimeter around the prison and are searching for Brian and John through the woods located east of the jail. Dogs and helicopters have been sent out to aid the search efforts. Brian Tucker is listed as being 5-foot-7, about 170 pounds, and has tattoos on his neck. John King is 5-foot-8 and 165 pounds.


3. They Escaped Through the Jail's Recreation Yard
Both men were reported to have made their escape through the recreation yard used by the female inmates at the Hopkins County Jail in Sulphur Springs, Texas. Sgt. Brad Cummings from the Hopkins County Sheriff's Office told Fox News that both escapees managed to make their way through the fencing surrounding the prison facility.

4. Local Schools Were Locked Down
Local schools in the area have been closed down as a safety precaution. Students were released from their classes early and they were permitted from walking home from their school campuses.


5. One of The Prisoners Was Set for Trial on Capital Murder
Brian Tucker, 44, was reportedly being held on $1 million bond for the 2011 death of Bobby Riley of Mahoney, Texas. Riley was found strangled in his home, where some of his instruments and firearms had been found stolen. Jury selection for his murder trial was set to begin June 3, 2013. John King, 39, was being held on evading arrest charges.
