Reeva Steenkamp’s Parents Now Facing Homelessness

The parents of slain model and lover of Oscar “Blade Runner” Pistorius, Reeva Steenkamp, still grieving the loss of their daughter, are now being forced to face the reality of homelessness.

The Daily Star reported that Steenkamp’s parents — June Steenkamp, 66, and Barry Steenkamp, 69 — have fallen on hard times. Reeva was the financial supporter of both of them, and now that she’s no longer here, her parents have been unable to pay their rent and other bills. The parents were given an eviction notice at their Port Elizabeth, South Africa home.

The parents revealed that they became financially dependent on their daughter after Barry had to leave his job due to being sick.

June Steenkamp told the Star that before Reeva died, she helped pay their cable bill so they could watch her debut in a reality show.

Meanwhile, the father gave a statement saying he’d like to meet face to face with his daughter’s alleged killer, the famed Paralympian Oscar Pistorius:

It’s necessary. For closure.

However, the mother says she wants no part of it:

My daughter is gone and nothing can change that. I don’t ever want to see him.

Pistorius is out on bail until his June 4 trial takes place for the murder of Reeva Steenkamp.
