A Charles Manson follower, Craig Carlisle Hammond, was arrested today at Corcoran State Prison in California for attempting to smuggle a cellphone wristwatch in to Manson, reports the L.A. Times.

Hammond, dubbed Gray Wolf by Manson, was brought to a local jail where he was booked around 4 p.m. local time on Tuesday, March 26. Gray Wolf posted a $30,000 bail and was released. Hammond will return to appear in court in April.

A cell phone is classified as an illegal communication device. Hammond also faces a charge of conspiracy. The phone was reported by Terry Thornton, a California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation spokeswoman, to be a cell phone wrist watch.

This is similar ground for Thornton who in 2010 made a statement about an LG flip phone that was found in Manson’s cell by guards:

…Manson made calls and sent text messages to people in California, New Jersey, Florida and British Columbia before officers discovered the phone…

Gray Wolf, as he is referred to by Manson, is a frequent visitor to Manson. He’s such a loyal follower he moved closer to Corcoran State Prison so he could visit more often. Mr. Wolf, believes Manson has insight into enviromental issues, he told CNN in 2009:

Manson thinks the destruction of the environment is much more serious than we are being made out to believe, our government keeps covering up problems with pollution, with coal, with automobiles. Charlie says we need to get back to the horse.
