Google has launched a beta version of Google Maps Engine Lite, which Google explains can “create and share robust customs maps using this powerful, easy to use tool.”

Google Maps Engine Lite will let users import spreadsheets, draw lines and shapes, and even share custom maps with colleagues. Google made it pretty easy to share maps by adding an embed code so you can share maps to your website.

Maps Engine Lite offers 150 different icons so specific locations can be marked.

A tutorial has also been posted to show users how to get started. A step-by-step guide will show how to create your own custom map.

My Maps will still be available, but for now My Maps users can start importing their maps into Maps Engine Lite.

Beth Liebert Google Product Manager says “My Maps will be integrated into Google Maps Engine Lite.”

Your friends would be so into this, share it!
