Florida Dog ‘Accidentally’ Shoots Owner With Pistol While Driving

Florida Dog Shoots Man

Gregory Lanier was driving his truck when he “heard boom, saw smoke and felt a burning in his leg.” His dog shot him.

Highlands Today reports that Lanier, from Frostproof, Florida, reported to Seabring police last Saturday that his dog kicked a gun lying on his truck’s floor while he was driving along State Road 17 North and got shot in the leg.

Lanier told investigators that he did not think the .380 pistol was loaded.

The 35-year-old man was not seriously injured and police ruled the shooting as an accident. Sebring Police Cmdr. Steve Carr said that he had never heard a case like this before and that police “did not arrest the dog or detain the dog,” pending the investigation.
