Who let the dog out? That's the question haunting Florida authorities after a 68-year-old man was killed when a dog jumped into a van and pushed the accelerator, causing the vehicle to run him over.
James Campbell was pronounced dead at the scene by the medics, according to NBC News.
Campbell and 68-year-old Iris Fortner were returning to their home in Cantonment, Florida, on Monday. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Fortner was backing the van in, and Campbell got out to open the gate.
As the story goes, Fortner opened her door to see where Campbell was, and her dog, a big boxer, jumped in and stomped on the accelerator. The van was in reverse so it lurched backward, smashing Campell, running him over and trapping him underneath.
Fortner has not been charged, but there is an investigation. Her story is totally believable, though.
