In Bangalore, India, two young men (Samarpita Samaddar and Aditya Mallya) organized a gathering of men wearing skirts at a local park on Facebook as a statement against rape. As Smarpita Samaddar told the Times of India:
The message we wanted give to the world was that a particular dress does not lead to sexual harassment or rape of a woman.
Unfortunately, only 25 men showed up out of the over 500 that showed their support on Facebook, but it's still and important message and a fun way of spreading it. I can see this easily becoming and international movement is curated properly. I'd be happy to don a skirt to help speak out against sexual harassment and rape.
Good on ya, fellas. Keep up the good work.
