One person is on life support and another covered in severe burns after they reportedly sparked a massive explosion while smoking on top of an oil tank in Texas.

The explosion occurred around 3 a.m. local time at an oil-storage facility on state Highway 110 north of Van, Texas, in Van Zandt County.

The local NBC station reports that three of the facility’s six tanks exploded and burned for hours. The local CBS station reports there were five tanks, and two exploded.

At least three fire departments arrived to battle the blaze, using a foam blanket to prevent the flames from spreading to the remaining tanks.

Both victims are 24 years old. The female is on the verge of death, while the male has burns on his face, chest and arms.
