Joseph Garland Torian was arrested over the weekend for allegedly leaving his 13-month-old son home alone so he could go out drinking.
But the 47-year-old Arkansas man might have pulled off the dangerous stunt if it weren't for his iPad.
Torian reportedly left the baby at home so he could throw back a few cold ones. According to police, Torian's girlfriend notified the police department from her job to report that she feared her son was home all alone.
She told the cops that Torian sent her a picture of their child sleeping in his bed around 9:30 p.m. Friday. However, she noticed that the location services on his iPad pointed to him being far from home. The iPad indicated Torian was 40 minutes away from their home — in the River Market District in Little Rock.
When Torian's girlfriend couldn't reach him, she called the Conway Police Department and her parents. Once the police arrived at Torian's residence, they found his 13-month-old son crying in his crib alone.
Thankfully, the child's grandparents stayed with the baby while the police nabbed Torian at the bar.
The Cabin.net reported that this isn't the first time Torian has left his child alone just so he could get wasted. During questioning, he reportedly came clean about doing the same thing when his son was only 7 months old.
Torian is charged with endangering the welfare of a minor. He was released on Sunday from Faulkner County Jail and Detention Center.
