The antisocial has become social #mambatweets
— Kobe Bryant (@kobebryant) January 4, 2013
So there it is, ladies and gentlemen, the tweet you'll all tell your grandkids about — Kobe Bryant's first message to his already 42,000 followers. An impressive amount when he's only been online since this morning.
Bryant has tweeted on behalf of Nike's official account in the past but was unwilling to make the full commitment himself. He told the LA Times in December:
I really just didn't know how to use it, but I decided 'Well, why not give it a shot and just talk to the fans directly?' I found it to be enjoyable. I had a good time, I heard a lot of great comments. You're able to get a lot of great feedback about the game but also about the product as well — what they thought, what they like, what they didn't like. It's the best way to gauge reaction.
This may not be the best time for Kobe to start shooting the breeze on social media, with the Lakers in the toilet, and a huge game against the Clippers tonight. Maybe there are other areas that the Black Mamba should be focused on.
Also, get yourself a profile photo, don't you know anything about etiquette?
