Chilling Screams Heard After Two Boys Fall Through Ice

Nick Cianciotto and Clyde Schimanski III died Monday night after falling through the ice on Budd Lake in Mount Olive, N.J.

"I don't want to die!" were the last words heard during two teenage boy's final moments after they fell through ice on Budd Lake in Mount Olive, N.J. Nick Cianciotto and Clyde Schimanski III, aged 14 and 15, were riding their bicycles on the lake when the ice gave way an killed the duo on Monday night.

One of the bodies was recovered on Tuesday by state police divers, while the body of the second boy remains missing.

The boys chilling screams brought help, but rescuers were unable to find the duo in the darkness.

“Please help me!” screamed one of the teens, heard by witnesses. “I don’t want to die!”

Laurie Halloran, mother of Schimanski, said she even urged her son to not go out on the ice just three hours before the tragedy.

"I said, 'Clyde, don't go out into the water. Please don't go out into the ice,'" she told the Daily News.

Budd Lake is New Jersey's largest natural lake, being 4.5 square miles and 12 feet deep at its deepest point. Residents say that the lake is a popular hang-out and recreational area during the winter.
