A room full of stars found a brighter star to worship when "special guest" Bill Clinton took the stage tonight at the Golden Globes.

The former president got a standing ovation from Hollywood's biggest names as their hero crashed the party with a surprise appearance to present a clip from Lincoln, one of the films nominated for Best Motion Picture Drama.

One of the night's few presenters able to master the Teleprompter, Bubba got subtly political as he extolled Lincoln's epic leadership — made possible by his willingness to compromise:

"Every hard-fought effort to perfect our union has demanded the same combination of steely resolve and necessary compromises ..."

After Bill walked off, co-host Amy Poehler quipped, "What an exciting special guest. That was Hillary Clinton's husband!"
