The Royal Prank Suicide scandal isn't the first time Australian radio station 2Day FM's DJs delivered a disastrous prank, and Mel Greig and Michael Christian aren't the station's only shock jocks to get yanked off the air for a high-profile debacle.
In August of 2009 a 14-year-old girl was forced to reveal on air that she had been raped, reports Daily Mail
Kyle Sandilands, a shock jock on 2Day FM, sparked a public backlash following a lie-detector stunt in which a 14-year-old-girl revealed that she was raped, reports Guardian
The lie detector enraged the public, the girl was tied to a polygraph and had been quizzed by her mother about whether or not she'd be sexually active. The mother volunteered to quiz her daughter, who is now 14, despite her knowledge of the girl's sexual assault reports
I've already told you the story about this, and don't look at me and smile because it's not funny," said the girl. Oh OK, I got raped when I was 12 years old
Sandilands, who presented the show with Jackie O'Neil, was accused of further insensitivity when he asked: "Right, and is that the only sexual experience you've had? O'Neil then stepped in to end the interview and she and Sandilands apologised on air, saying they did not know the girl had been raped
