Parents in New Jersey were in anything but a Mellow Mood after their kids were sickened by an herb-infused stoner drink peddled at their school.
Marley’s Mellow Mood, an “anti-energy” drink with “calming” botanicals like valerian root, is not intended for children — and is labeled as such — but was sold by the lunch provider at Satz Middle School in the town of Holmdel.
The Asbury Park Press reports that the Chartwells School Dining Services issued an apology:
We sincerely regret that this product was sold and that students had an adverse reaction to it. Chartwells takes great pride and care in partnering with our school communities to provide the best school dining experience possible and we take this situation very seriously.
The company “removed” a manager pending its investigation.
Fox News quotes the letter the school sent home to parents:
Several students went to our nurse’s office to report symptoms of nausea, headaches, light-headiness, and a feeling of lethargy.

Marley’s widow and nine of his kids just settled a suit against his half-brother over the use of Marley’s name and face on products.
