Two police officers have been arrested after allegedly stealing items from the scene of the plane crash that killed Mexican superstar Jenni Rivera.

The Nuevo Leon state government says authorities found images on the smartphone of one of the officers while investigating how the media got photographs of the secured site, including “images of body parts and personal documents,” according to Fox News Latino.

The homes of all the officers who were present at the plane crash site were searched, and victims’ belongings were found in two — those of the 23-year-old who had incriminating photos on his phone, and another officer, age 24. Both were arrested on Thursday.

The Associated Press reported that these officers belonged to a new state police force that aimed to be “more effective and less corrupt than its predecessors.”
