A third man is accusing puppeteer Kevin Clash, also known as the guy behind Elmo's voice, of having sex with him when he was underage.
The guy, identified as "Joe Doe," is now 29 but says he engaged in "some sexual activity" with Clash after he met him on a gay chat line in the early 2000s, when he was only 16. The accuser said he hooked up with Clash when he visited New York in high school as a model.
The alleged victim is also being represented by attorney Jeff Herman, who is representing 24-year-old Cecil Singleton in a $5 million lawsuit claiming Clash was sexually active with him.
The latest person has written a book and has included details of the intimate meetings that Herman said he'll reveal on Tuesday. The book will reveal how "Joe Doe" didn't realize who Clash was when he met up with him in 2003 and 2004, but saw Elmo dolls, an Emmy and photographs with Elmo, so he came to know.
Herman claims he has been contacted a total of four young men who all accuse Clash of improper behavior, and that their stories are very similar to each other.
Herman told the Daily Mail he has been contacted by two men, bringing the total number of accusers to four:
Let's be clear. We're not talking about underage sex here. There is no such thing as consensual sex with a minor. There is sexual abuse.
Clash resigned his job last week, when Singleton came forward. In his federal lawsuit, Singleton describes Clash as:
An unmarried adult male living a prominent public life centered around the entertainment of toddlers, while at the same time he was, in secret, preying on teenage boys to satisfy his depraved sexual interests.
Singleton says he met Clash on a gay phone line when he was 15 years old and Clash was 42. He claims they had a two-week affair after that first meeting. Singleton said they never went all the way to full intercourse but he has no doubt they would have had they stayed together.
They did eventually meet up when Singleton was an adult, and they took their relationship all the way.
Clash, who has been married before and has a 19-year-old daughter, admitted this past week he's gay but he says he did not have improper relationships with too-young men.
I am a gay man. I have never been ashamed of this or tried to hide it, but felt it was a personal and private matter.
