FC Dallas Owner Doug Quinn Charged with Strangling Wife

Doug Quinn, Elizabeth Quinn, FC Dallas.

The president of MLS team FC Dallas, Doug Quinn, was arrested on Saturday in New York City. He is charged with strangulation and assault after an alleged altercation with his wife, Elizabeth.

The couple were in Manhattan for Elizabeth’s 50th birthday. He was taken into custody by police after an argument escalated at the Alex Hotel. His wife was taken to hospital with non-serious injuries, that included cuts and bruises on her face, arm and legs. One of her eyes was swollen shut. She told the New York Post:

It was his 50th birthday party Friday night. We had a lovely night, and unfortunately things went wrong.

The argument occurred on Saturday afternoon at about 2:45 p.m. Police arrived on the scene and Quinn was arrested at about 4:00 p.m.

Quinn was arraigned on Sunday at Manhattan Criminal Court and posted $20,000 bail and was released after spending Sunday night in jail. He returns to court tomorrow (Thursday). According to Quinn’s lawyers:

In these cases, which are usually ‘he said, she said,’ there is often another side to the story and there certainly is one here. To protect the privacy of both Mr. Quinn and his wife, we will not go into the events of that day or discuss important and private circumstances relevant to the allegations. We look forward to meeting with the District Attorney’s Office so that they can be fully informed of all of the facts and circumstances.”

The Quinns are residents in Dallas. Doug Quinn has been the CEO and President of FC Dallas since June 2010.
