An 18-year-old boy duped by an FBI sting tried to set off a car bomb on Friday outside a downtown Chicago bar, feds allege.
Adel Daoud of Hillside, Illinois, is charged with trying to use a weapon of mass destruction.
Agents supplied him with fake materials, and the bomb was a dud.
The U.S. attorney’s office says undercover agents targeted Daoud based on his online activity, and when they contacted him he “expressed an interest in engaging in violent jihad, either in the United States or overseas.”
