Casey Meyering, WinByState Operator, Arrested: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know

Casey Edward Meyering, 28, from Tulsa, Oklahoma, was arrested in his home state, according to California Attorney General, Kamala D. Harris, charged with being a revenge pornographer, reports The Los Angeles Times.

Here's what you need to know:


1. On Meyering's Site, States Were Pitted Against Each Other

Meyering is accused of operating the revenge porn site "WinByState," the site's description is of "“a user supported website where you can trade your ex-girlfriend, your current girlfriend, or any other girl that you might know."

The site allowed scorned boyfriends the opportunity to upload intimate photos of their ex-girlfriends. The photos on the site were sorted by state, hence by the name, according to KTVU.


2. Girls Could Pay to Have Their Pics Removed

Girls were able to contact the site and have their photo removed if they paid $250 through Google Wallet to an account, called TakeDownHammer, that has been traced to Meyering. Cops made a payment to the account in order to snare Meyering, later surveillance footage showed Meyering going into a bank and withdrawing the money from an account.

TakeDownHammer has previously been linked to revenge pornographer Craig Brittain, who operated the site IsAnybodyDown.

3. A Californian Woman Started the Investigation

The case has been brought to California after a woman from the northern part of the state found pictures of herself on the site. She contacted authorities and after further investigation, cops found around 400 postings on the site relating to Californian women.


4. Cops Want to Extradite Him to California

Meyering was arrested in a combined effort between California and Oklahoma agents in Tulsa. He is resisting extradition to California, a state with strict anti-revenge porn laws. Until a decision is made, Meyering remains in custody in Tulsa. According to KTVU, he's being charged with five counts of extortion by the Napa County Superior Court in California. The Associated Press reports that Meyering's bond will be set at $100,000 in Napa County.

In December 2013, cops arrested and charged Kevin Bollaert, 27, on extortion charges relating to operating a revenge porn site.

5. Meyering is a Drummer

According to his Facebook page, Meyering is in a relationship with a girl. He's a graduate of Charles Page High School in Sand Spring, Oklahoma. Also on his social media sites, there are several professional photos of Meyering playing drums in a band.
