April 15 is Tax Day in the United States as Americans send in tax forms and money to the IRS in hopes that they might get a refund. Will you get a refund? Or will you owe money?
These five tax calculators will help you figure out how much you'll likely get back, or how much you owe.
1. TurboTax's TaxCaster
It's the only calculator on this list that has an available mobile app.
The program allows you to add other sources of income besides your primary business, as well as consider education, retirement, and charitable donations in its final estimate.
2. H&R Block Tax Estimator
The other big name in taxes, H&R Block, also allows users to use a free tax calculator in order to calculate your refund or how much you'll owe. Unlike TurboTax, H&R Block does not have an app, so you'll have to access it online.
This is a simple and easy to use tax calculator that incorporates basic information, income, and expenses in your results.
3. TaxAct TaxCalculator
TaxAct is another simple and easy to use online tax calculator that allows you calculate how much tax refund you will get, or conversely, how much you will owe. You will be able to factor in deductions, income, and tax credits like energy saving and education, in order to see your final estimate.
4. TaxBrain Tax Estimator
Taxbrain is a more in-depth tax calculator to estimate how much you will be owed or how much you owe the federal government. Rather than three or four steps, Taxbrain requires six steps with more specific questions than the other free tax calculators.
eSmartPaycheck is the only free online tax calculator on this list that requires you to register and create a username in order to calculate your tax refund.
If having a username and password in order to access the calculator makes you safer, this one is the one for you. It is a simple to use refund calculator that will allow you to enter income information while incorporating hourly rate and exemptions.
