Barack Obama Selfie David Cameron Selfie Helle Thorning-Schmidt Nelson Mandela Memorial

Denmark’s Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt felt she had an opportunity she could not pass up. Sitting next to the leader of the free world and UK Premier David Cameron, Schmidt took out her phone and took a selfie. While perhaps not the most respectful thing to do considering the three were awaiting a memorial ceremony for Nelson Mandela who died on December 5, The Guardian suggests it’s not that big of a deal.

Considering it is 2013’s word of the year, “Selfies,” know no bounds, from nightclubs to the memorial services for former world leaders who inspired generations, everybody, everywhere, is doing it.
