Bill Beckwith, host of HGTV's show Curb Appeal, is dead at age 38 after a motorcycle crash in San Francisco, reports SFGate.com.

1. He Was Struck by a Car

Beckwith was reportedly riding a motorcycle around 8:30 p.m. local time on Monday in San Francisco's Lower Haight neighborhood when he collided with a car near the corner of Oak and Steiner streets. He later died at a hospital. The 30-year-old man who was driving the car reportedly stopped and cooperated with police.


2. He Loved Motorcycles

Beckwith was a motorcycle enthusiast, whose Facebook photos include many images of him motorcycle-touring in exotic locales, performing jumps and tricks, and documenting motorcycle maintenance.

According to his HGTV profile, Beckwith grew up on a vegetable farm in Warren, Maine, where he developed a love for old structures and building things. He studied English and martial arts at the University of Montana, then moved to California, where he became a contractor and founded his firm, BB Design Build. In 2010, he joined Curb Appeal and became a household name for home-improvement enthusiasts.
