Newly released dashcam footage sheds light on a wild incident that saw a New Mexico State Trooper open fire on a minivan full of five children, ages 6 to 18.

It starts as a routine speeding stop — 71 in a 55 ...

But the officer argues with the driver, Orianna Ferrel, (mother of the children) ...

She drives off and pulls over again ...

The officer, now irate, tries to pull her out of the car ...

She finally gets out, but then physically struggles with the cop ...

The children are terrified and hysterical, screaming loudly ...

Her 14-tear-old son jumps out and scuffles with the cops ...

They get back inside and shut all the doors ...

While waiting for backup, a cops smashes the minivan's window with his nightstick ...

She drives off again, and an officer opens fire on the minivan full of children as young as 6 ...

She leads a high-speed chase and drives to a hotel.

The incident, which occurred last month north of Santa Fe, is under investigation. Two officers face possible disciplinary action. According to The Taos News:

[Farrell] was charged with five counts of abuse of a child, aggravated fleeing an officer, resisting an officer, reckless driving and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to court records. Farrell’s son was arrested on charges of battery of an officer and resisting arrest.
