Jayden Thomas and Braxton Wood have been missing since Monday, August 26. Their parents don't know exactly why they ran away but have said the teens are in a six-month relationship described as "too serious."
Here's what you should know about these lovebird runaways and their alarming disappearance.
1. They Stole a Car & Ran Away After Learning They'd Be in Different Schools
After learning the news that they would be attending different high schools, the young Michigan couple have run away from home. The 13-year-old female, Jayden Thomas, was last seen on Monday, August 26, in Clare, Michigan, according to the Christian Post. Thomas, along with 14-year-old Braxton Wood, allegedly stole Thomas' mother's 2005 black Ford Explorer. They haven't been seen since and it's been several days since police have received a credible tip.
"It's like they fell off the face of the earth," said Thomas' mother, Kelly Drinkwine. "No one can find them. She wrote a message for me in lipstick on the mirror saying, 'I love you so much. Stay happy and beautiful.' They are just two babies trying to take on the world. There are mean, horrible people out there. Just come home, baby. Just come home."
"We looked around the house and realized Braxton was missing and we still didn't comprehend it because Braxton hasn't had driver's training. He is a young 14, so no drivers' experience whatsoever," said Wood's mother.
2. The Parents Believe the Teens' Relationship Is 'Too Serious'
The parents of the missing teens believe that their children's six-month relationship is too intense for people their age. Thomas told her mother that she couldn't live without Wood, according to the Christian Post. Because of that comment, Thomas' mother told her daughter the morning of the disappearance that she no longer supported their relationship, according to the Daily Mail.
"That's when I felt I had to bring my daughter back to reality," she said.
"They didn't want to do anything but be with each other. It was pretty intense for a 14-year-old," said Wood's mother.
3. The Young Teens Had About $80 Between Them
According to the Daily Mail, the teens' parents are concerned because the missing couple only has $80, a video game console, a coin collection, and other small items that could be sold for cash.
Mike Cook, a private investigator involved in the search for the young couple said that the teens are likely to run out of money quickly, leading them to "doing things you don't want to see kids do to make money."
4. Police Have No Idea Where the Couple Are
Investigators and family members are in a frenzy, searching low and hi for the young couple. The trail seems to have gone cold over the last few days.
"Trying to find these two has been a little more difficult than any of us would have thought. It's our impression they have not made contact with anyone. We know they have been throughout central Michigan. The last area we know for sure is the Mt. Pleasant area, but it's been a few days since we've had a good solid lead of where we knew they were," investigator Mike Cook told the Daily Mail.
5. The Families And Police Are Asking For Public Assistance
The trail for the young couple has seemed to run cold over the last few days, so investigators and the families of the two teens have appealed to the public for assistance in locating Thomas and Wood.
Authorities have released a description of the two teenagers to aid in identifying and locating them, according to CBS:
Jayden is described as 5 feet, 3 inches tall and weighs about 120 lbs. She has blonde hair and hazel/blue eyes. Braxton is 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighs 125 lbs., and has blonde hair and blue eyes.
Anyone with information on their whereabouts is asked to call the Isabella County Sheriff’s Office at 989-772-5911 or private investigator Cook at 616-466-4274.
