
After reports of potentially terrifying lockdown gripped Mableton, Georgia at a troubled middle school, police subsequently announced that the reports of an armed person in the school were all a hoax. A hoax allegedly conceived by a "truant student," reports 11alive.

1. The Call Was'Discredited'
Police told reporters that they received a call about a "possible" armed person inside the school. It's been reported that the call was made to police by a student. Fox Atlanta is now reporting that the call has been "discredited" and described as a hoax.
2. This is the Second Time in 3 Months the School Has Been in the News
In June the school made national news when a 14-year-old boy was accused of "aggravated sodomy" against a fellow female classmate.

The school was on lockdown as television cameras showed police and worried parents arriving on scene. WSB-TV reported that police searched the school "classroom to classroom" and found nothing out of the ordinary.

Cobb County officials emphasized that they deployed every available officer to the scene at the school, emphasizing how serious the department takes calls involving children's safety.
5. Students Have Yet to be Released
Parents were directed to a church close to the school to pick up their kids.
