1. The Baby Was Found Dead in His Father’s Lap

Officers responded to a call after reports of shots fired at around 2 a.m. When cops arrived on the scene they found Saini in the front seat of his vehicle with his three-month-old baby in his lap.

2. The Man Had Just Left a Family Party

Saini had been with his son at a family party. Both bodies were found in the driveway in front of the house at 501 block of West Ivanhoe Street in Chandler, Arizona (above), where the party had been going on. Saini left with his son at some point. Nobody attempted to stop him as nothing seemed amiss.

ABC 15 reports that a note was placed on the front door of the home reading:

No comment. Please respect our family’s privacy at this difficult time.

3. The Mother Was Still at the Party When it Happened

The mother of the baby, who was not married to Saini, was in the house at the time of the shooting. It’s understood that the couple lived in Tempe, Arizona, with their baby. Police have not ruled out alcohol or drugs as a possible contributing factor in the deaths.

This is the first homicide in Chandler, Arizona, this year. A police spokesman, Seth Tyler, told reporters that local cops “haven’t had something like this happen in a number of years,” adding the tragedy was “horrible for the family, the mom and on our end.” Tyler went on to say:

The dispatcher, she couldn’t even talk, she was so upset. A lot of the officers that were working that (incident) were fairly new, and it doesn’t matter if you’re a new officer or a veteran officer, that’s an extremely traumatic thing.

As an officer, not only do you have to deal with a crime scene, you have to try to help these people as much as you can. It’s horrible. Our heart goes out to the family.
