When President Johnson gave the go-ahead to deploy the A-12 spy planes to Vietnam, the military organized the transfer of the planes from Area-51 in Nevada to Kadena airbase in Japan. The first A-12 made the flight on May 22, 1967 and arrived in Japan after a 6 hour and 6 minute flight.
