San Diego Mayor Bob Filner Going into Sex Therapy — But KEEPING His Job

San Diego Mayor, Bob Filner stated that he will be entering two week of intensive therapy.

In a statement this afternoon to address the sexual harassment accusations brought against him by numerous women,  Filner admitted to his wrongdoings and said that he will be full-time behavioral counseling. Although he referred to his”failure to respect women” as “unacceptable,” the embattled mayor will be keeping his comfortable six-figure annual salary and will be resuming his duties upon completing his therapy. Meanwhile he will be briefed in the “mornings and at night” while at the clinic.

Filner was elected a mere eight months ago as the city’s first Democratic mayor in two decades and has been accused of sexual misconduct ranging from inappropriate comments to groping women.  A total of seven women have said they were targets of the mayor’s advances including his former spokeswoman and a retired navy admiral. According to the local news station:

“The latest accusers —a retired Navy rear-admiral, a dean at San Diego State University, the head of the Port Tenants Association and a businesswoman — all said they were on the receiving end of unwanted advances, inappropriate touching and comments by Filner.”

Filner has admitted in a statement to reporters that he has treated women poorly and sometimes intimidated them, but insisted that a “fair and independent investigation” would clear him of sexual harassment charges.
