A cow fell through the roof of a home in southeastern Brazil and killed a man while he slept in his bed next to his wife, who the cow just narrowly missed, reports the Christian Science Monitor.
Local authorities say Joao Maria de Souza was rushed to the hospital on Wednesday after a cow fell through his roof and on top of him. The cow was apparently grazing on top of a hill above Souza's home and wandered on his asbestos roof. He later died of internal bleeding caused by the weight of the cow landing on him.
His brother told a local newspaper that he is angry with the amount of time it took for Souza to receive help.
"Being crushed by a cow in your bed is the last way you expect to leave this earth," he said. "But in my view it wasn't the cow that killed our Joao, it was the unacceptable time he spent waiting to be examined."
Souza's wife was not harmed.
The cow is reported to have escaped by a nearby farm before it wandered off.
